Job summary

City of South Padre Island Dispatcher position handling administrative and technical work for emergency information and records. You will assist in implementing standard operating policies and procedures of the telecommunications division.

The role requires operating 911 equipment, accurate data entry in RMS and CAD, and coordination with police, fire, and public works. A high school diploma and 2 years of related office experience are required; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with coursework in general office practices.
• Two years of related work experience in general office work or a related field.
• Must be TCOLE certified or able to obtain certification within one year of employment.
• Must qualify for and obtain TLETS Terminal Operator certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operates 911 communications equipment to monitor and determine the exact nature of each request for service.
• Enter data into the Record Management System and CAD and communicate accurate information during emergencies.
• Dispatches police and other response vehicles for emergency responses and notifies other required personnel.
• Maintains logs on radio and telephone communications and coordinates with agencies as needed.
• Assists police officers by radio and telephone and handles confidential information via TLETS.
• Monitors CCTV in dispatch offices and coordinates for tow trucks and Public Works.
