Job summary

City of South Padre Island is seeking a Dispatcher to handle 911 communications, monitor equipment, and enter data into RMS and CAD. You will determine units needed, coordinate services, and communicate clearly during emergencies.

The role requires a high school diploma, two years of office experience, and certifications (TCOLE/TLETS) within one year. Bilingual Spanish and English is preferred; you must work flexible shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with coursework in general office practices such as typing, filing, and basic accounting, or a closely related field.
• Two (2) years of related work experience in increasing responsible general office work or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates 911 communications equipment to monitor and determine the exact nature of each request for service.
• Enter accurate data into the Record Management System and CAD and communicate information during emergencies and non-emergencies.
• Dispatches police and other response vehicles for emergency responses and coordinates for tow trucks and Public Works.
