Job summary

Macon-Bibb County Consolidated Government is seeking an E-911 Communication Officer to receive and process requests for emergency and non-emergency services, and to dispatch via radio and telecommunications equipment. The role requires coordinating with field units, transferring medical calls, and monitoring weather and EMA communications.

Strong accuracy, calmness under pressure, and familiarity with GCIC/NCIC systems are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Typing speed of at least 30 wpm.
• Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification Exam.
• Experience in public safety communications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates emergency E-911 telecom equipment and records requests.
• Dispatches law enforcement, fire, and other personnel as needed.
• Maintains contact with field units and coordinates backup.
• Transfers medical calls to ambulance services and assesses life-threatening status.
• Monitors EMA radio traffic and weather statements.
• Operates GCIC/NCIC terminals to provide information to field units.
