National Public Safety Careers is seeking a 911 Call Taker in Maine to handle emergency and nonemergency lines, confirm locations, and document details for dispatch coordination. Training may cover call-taking and radio dispatch where applicable.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma, strong listening and typing skills, and the ability to follow structured procedures. Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required, with benefits available per employer policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
• Experience in customer service or public contact is helpful.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming emergency calls and assigned nonemergency lines.
• Confirm incident location and caller’s callback information.
• Use approved questions to identify nature and urgency.
• Enter details into call-processing or dispatch software.
• Forward incident information promptly to the appropriate dispatch function.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions within training and certification.
