Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking a Spartan Running Coach to provide coaching and instruction to 6th grade students in the Community Education program. The season runs from August 24 to about October 12, with practices two days a week in the late afternoon.

Qualifications

• Understanding of fundamental skills and strategies.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in collaboration with others.
• Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
• Commitment to supporting the whole student/athlete in athletic competition, academics, and character development.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and instruction to 6th grade students in an instructional athletic program.
• Season starts August 24 and ends approximately October 12.
• Practices run 2 days a week, 3 - 4:00pm. Flexible based on coach's availability.
• Work collaboratively with youth sports coordinator to implement a coaching philosophy that is supportive of student/athlete development.
• Communicate effectively with students/athletes, coaching staff, parents, and building administrators regarding program needs and developments.
