Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking Spartan Kids School Year Program Staff to support before and after school care for Kindergarten to 5th grade in Orono Community Education. The role runs Monday through Friday with morning and afternoon hours, starting September 1, 2026.

You will plan developmentally appropriate activities, supervise students, and foster a welcoming, safe environment. Ideal candidates are students or graduates with a passion for working with children, strong organizational skills,

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a related field, such as education or child development, preferred.
• First-aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Experience with school-age children (5-12) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement engaging activities for school-age children (K-5).
• Supervise children ages 5-12 using appropriate classroom management techniques.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere for students and families.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the program.
• Set clear rules and expectations for behavior.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
