Job summary

Orono Public Schools is seeking a Spartan Running Coach to provide coaching and instruction to 6th grade students in the Community Education program. The season runs from August 24 to about October 12, with practices two days a week in the late afternoon.

As part of the program you will work closely with the youthsports coordinator to implement a supportive coaching philosophy and communicate effectively with students, parents, coaching staff, and building administrators about program needs and

• Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
• Commitment to supporting the whole student/athlete in athletic competition, academics, and character development.

Program Overview

Spartan Running gives 6th grade students an opportunity to learn running techniques and pacing, and gives them an early experience with the sport of Cross Country running. Each day includes training and a distance run. There may also be opportunities to compete in exhibition runs at MS/HS cross country meets.
