Job summary

The San Francisco Friends School seeks an Interim 5th & 6th Grade Learning Specialist to ensure all students can access the curriculum and develop strategies with families. The role develops learning plans, coordinates student support, and collaborates across the SLS team and outside specialists.

Operating across two middle-school grades, the specialist works with teachers to support diverse learners in a Quaker-inspired, inclusive setting and communicates regularly with families about

Qualifications

• Requires a B.A. and a Teaching Credential (or equivalent).
• Learning Specialist degree or Education Specialist credentials preferred.
• Experience teaching middle school students.
• Experience with language-based learning differences.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Case manages two grades and communicates with families and teachers.
• Works with students individually and in small groups.
• Implements accommodations for learning differences in class and tests.
• Collaborates with faculty on best practices in student support.
• Conducts educational screenings and referrals for evaluations.
• Coordinates with SLS team and Counseling and Wellness departments.
• Attends weekly faculty and division meetings and maintains confidential records.
• Supports scheduling and tutor communication for students in the caseload.
• Participates in parent education programs and provides resources to families.
• Coordinates with outside specialists and programs.
