Job summary

San Francisco Friends School is seeking a Middle School Learning Specialist for grades 5-8. The role develops learning plans, coordinates student support, and works with families to understand assessments and needs.

The specialist collaborates with teachers, SLS team, and outside programs to ensure equitable access and evidence-based interventions, rooted in Quaker values and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• BA and a teaching credential (or equivalent).
• Learning Specialist degree or Education Specialist credential preferred.
• Experience in middle school settings and with language-based learning differences.
• Strong communication and organizational/case management skills.

Responsibilities

• Case manage learning profiles for two grades and communicate with families.
• Provide individual and small-group support in classroom and open times.
• Implement accommodations and support teachers in understanding learning differences.
• Coordinate with SLS team, counseling, and outside specialists.
• Maintain confidential student intervention records and data.
