San Francisco Friends School in San Francisco is seeking an Interim Middle School Learning Specialist for grades 5–8 for the 2026–2027 academic year. Qualifications

• B.A. and a Teaching Credential (or equivalent).
• Learning Specialist degree (or equivalent professional credentials) and/or Education Specialist degree required.
• Middle school teaching experience.
• Experience working with language-based learning differences.
• Demonstrated knowledge of learning differences, assessment techniques, and resources for supporting diverse learners.
• Excellent communication and organizational/case management skills.

Responsibilities

• Case manages students with learning profiles for two grades; relay information to teachers and communicate with families.
• Works individually with students and in small groups in various settings.
• Introduces and facilitates established accommodations for students in class and testing.
• Collaborates with faculty to understand best practices in student support.
• Provides educational screenings and referrals for outside evaluations.
• Coordinates with SLS team and Counseling and Wellness department to assess support.
• Meets with learning specialists, counselors, teachers, and parents regularly.
• Maintains confidential electronic student learning profiles and intervention lists.
• Supports scheduling and communication with tutors for students in caseload.
• Participates in parent education programs and provides community resources.
• Attends weekly all-faculty and divisional meetings.
• Reviews quarterly reports for students receiving support.
• Coordinates with outside specialists and programs.
• Supports MAP testing, analyzing and sharing data.
