Job summary

YER USA is seeking a 5-Axis Machine Tool Field Service Engineer to install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced 5-axis CNC machines at customer sites in the United States, with travel as needed. Strong mechanical, electrical, and CNC control knowledge is required, with emphasis on mechanical skills.

Responsibilities include on-site installation, machine checks, control configuration, preventive maintenance, and customer training.

Qualifications

  • 3-7+ years of CNC machine tool service experience.
  • Strong knowledge of 5-axis machining centers.
  • Experience with CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar).
  • Mechanical, electrical, and control troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct test cuts and validation runs.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Troubleshoot CNC control systems and servo drives.
  • Repair spindle systems, tool changers, rotary tables, and axis components.
  • Perform laser calibration, ballbar testing, and geometry adjustments.
  • Replace defective components and assemblies.
  • Document service activities and resolution details.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services.
  • Inspect wear components and recommend replacements.
  • Optimize machine performance and reliability.
  • Provide maintenance recommendations to customers.
  • Deliver professional, customer-focused service.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to customers.
  • Support customers remotely when required.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Complete service reports and expense documentation.
  • Maintain service records and machine history.
  • Communicate technical issues to engineering and support teams.

Job description

The 5-Axis Machine Tool Field Service Engineer is responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced 5-axis CNC machine tools at customer facilities. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and CNC control knowledge, along with the ability to work independently in the field while delivering excellent customer service. Emphasis on Mechanical skills is most desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with spindle rebuilds and alignment
  • Technical degree in engineering, electronics, or relate field
Technical Skills
  • Machine Types: 5-Axis machining centers, horizontal and vertical machining centers
  • Measurement Tools: Ballbar, laser calibration, levels, indicators
  • Software: CNC diagnostics, service software, PC-based tools
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
