Qualifications

Overview

Location: USA (East Coast, Midwest, or Southeast regions)

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician specialized in CNC vertical turning and milling machines. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of mechanical systems and CNC (numerical control) and is capable of installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex machine tools at customer sites. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service. Candidates may be based anywhere in the United States within the East Coast, Midwest, or Southeast regions, as the role requires frequent travel to client locations.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and start up CNC vertical turning and milling machines at customer facilities.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC control issues.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance and reliability.
• Calibrate machines, check geometry, and perform accuracy tests according to manufacturer specifications.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and CNC documentation.
• Configure and optimize CNC parameters, PLC functions, and machine settings as required.
• Support customers with machine operation, basic programming, and best practices.
• Prepare service reports, document interventions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Coordinate with engineering, spare parts, and service management to resolve complex technical issues.
• Comply with safety regulations and company procedures at all times.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a CNC Service Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (spindles, bearings, gearboxes, ball screws, guideways).
• Solid understanding of CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar).
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Experience with vertical turning machines (VTL) or CNC milling machines.
• Experience with laser measurement systems and geometry compensation.
• Basic understanding of electrical and electronic components.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Work Environment & Conditions

• Field-based position with frequent travel to customer sites.
• Expected travel commitment of approximately 150–200 days per year.
• May require working extended hours or weekends during installations or urgent service calls.
• Hands-on work in industrial environments.
