NOW Hiring Heroes in Tampa, FL is seeking a skilled CNC 5 Axis Setup Machinist to set up, prove out, and run complex parts on 5-axis mills. This role involves reading drawings, selecting tools, establishing work offsets, and probing routines to ensure first-piece quality.

You will verify programs, measure parts with precision, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot issues to maintain tight tolerances. Overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; machining apprenticeship or technical certificate preferred.
• Experience setting up and proving out 5-axis CNC machining centers.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T with accuracy.
• Experience selecting tools, establishing work offsets, and troubleshooting machining processes.
• Ability to machine tight-tolerance parts; aerospace experience preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills, including fixtures, tools, work offsets, and probing routines.
• Read drawings, specs, setup sheets, and CNC programs to plan each setup.
• Load and prove out programs using safe practices and first-run verification.
• Measure first pieces and in-process parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Make tool offset and program adjustments to maintain dimensions and improve consistency.
• Identify and resolve setup, tooling, workholding, and machining issues.
• Document setup details and process improvements for repeat jobs.
• Collaborate with quality, supervisors, and production to keep jobs moving.
