NC State University in Clinton, NC seeks an Assistant Extension Agent, 4-H to lead a comprehensive county 4-H program serving youth aged 5–19. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating research-based youth programs, coordinating with Extension colleagues and community partners to meet local priorities.

The position requires strong leadership, budgeting, and program management skills, with responsibilities including staff supervision, grant management, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with GPA requirements in child or youth development or related field.
• Master’s degree in a related field may satisfy requirements.
• Experience with 4-H or Cooperative Extension programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive county 4-H program including clubs, school enrichment, after-school programs, camps, and special interests.
• Directly supervise three program assistants and provide leadership in hiring, training, and day-to-day supervision.
• Manage JCPC programs, including Teen Court, Youth Inspire, and prevention programs with grant oversight and reporting.
• Develop and manage program budgets, track revenues, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
• Recruit, train, and support adult and teen volunteers; build partnerships with schools, agencies, and community organizations.
• Market 4-H programs through local media and community engagement; expand reach to underserved audiences.
• Timely response to client requests and coordinate state and district level youth events that require travel.
