Job summary

NC State Extension in Montgomery County seeks an Extension Agent to lead the 4-H Youth Development program for youth ages 5–19. The role includes planning, implementing, and evaluating clubs, school enrichment programs, and summer activities, with volunteer training and staff coordination.

The successful candidate will engage diverse communities, develop partnerships, and report program impacts while promoting life skills and healthy choices through experiential learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with acceptable GPA; certain master’s degree pathways with GPA requirements.
• Experience coordinating youth programs and volunteers is preferred.
• Commitment to community partnerships, positive youth development, and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the 4-H Youth Development program in Montgomery County, planning and evaluating youth activities.
• Develop and maintain 4-H clubs, school enrichment, and after-school programs.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; manage program staff and grants.
• Provide educational information to diverse audiences to build community capacity.
• Collaborate with residents and organizations to promote healthy lifestyles and life skills.
