Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno Extension seeks a community-minded professional to join Pershing County as a Community Based Instructor 3. This is an in-person role based out of Lovelock, NV, focusing on youth leadership and workforce readiness by building connections with volunteers, families, schools, and local partners.

You will recruit and train volunteers, develop youth engagement strategies, and coordinate school-based and after-school programs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
• Three years of relevant work experience in agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, or natural resources in urban and rural areas.
• A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
• Candidates must complete a fingerprinting/background check.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting, training, mentoring, and supporting adult volunteers who deliver 4-H programming.
• Developing strategies to recruit and engage youth in 4-H programs and activities.
• Coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating school-based and after-school youth programs.
• Assisting with curriculum implementation and program development to meet community needs.
• Organizing and supporting 4-H events, activities, workshops, and educational opportunities.
• Building collaborative partnerships with Extension faculty and staff, county personnel, schools, community organizations, and families.
• Supporting continuous program improvement through planning, evaluation, and assessment efforts.
• Providing training and support to after-school educators and youth program providers.
