Job summary

Saab is expanding its advanced manufacturing facility in West Lafayette, IN, seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk trainer. Roles include assembly, training new teammates, and contributing to a state-of-the-art production system.

On-site training is provided through the Aerospace structures training academy, with a December 2026 start date. Starting hourly rate is $23–$25, plus a $2 shift premium.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft fuselage per standardized procedures and quality requirements.
• Install systems and complete final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Train new team members and transfer knowledge.
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces and perform touch-up painting as needed.
• Sign off on work when completed per specifications.
