Job summary

Dessert Holdings is seeking a Maintenance Technician 2 in Newburyport, MA to keep our state-of-the-art equipment running smoothly on the 3rd shift (10 pm–6:30 am), Sunday through Thursday. You will perform proactive maintenance, diagnose issues, and ensure top quality and safety standards across our bakery lines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of industrial mechanical experience OR a two-year technical degree.
• Ability to install, align, and adjust mechanical power transmission components (gearboxes, bearings, chains, shafts, gears).
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems and ability to service regulators, filters, and conductors.
• Basic welding proficiency, including proper PPE selection and welding preparation.
• Familiarity with bakery or food manufacturing equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose & Repair: Identify mechanical defects and troubleshoot equipment issues to keep production running seamlessly.
• Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance plans to reduce unexpected downtime.
• Root Cause Analysis: Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent future breakdowns.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with operators and train them on maintenance best practices to enhance machine longevity.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in the CMMS system.
• Quality & Safety: Ensure compliance with all food safety and workplace safety standards (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
• Other Duties: Support additional maintenance-related tasks as needed by supervisors.
