Job summary

Prattwhitney is seeking a skilled team member for onsite operations in New York, NY. The role involves machine setup and operation on surface grinders and mills, requiring a high school diploma and at least two years of relevant experience.

The candidate will monitor tooling and maintain accurate documentation while achieving production goals. Additionally, external candidates may be eligible for a $3,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or equivalent and minimum of two years experience.
• Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting decimals.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use multiple job‑specific applications.
• Experience with measurement equipment, e.g., gauges, calipers, etc.
• Experience with basic hand tools.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and following blueprints.

What You Will Do

• Perform machine setup and runs on surface grinders and mills.
• Read, interpret and process technical drawings, engineering and quality standards, and work instructions.
• Monitor tooling for wear and usage, changing and setting tools as needed.
• Monitor part specific dimensional tolerances while performing the operation and identify non-conforming part features.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system inputs (shop traveler, labor charging, production tracking software, inspection results, etc.).
• Identify and report process inefficiencies, machine issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Follow work priorities to accomplish production goals.
• Handle contact with coolants, cleaning fluids, and oils (petroleum based products) and chemical vapors from products during normal manufacturing.
• Obtain and maintain required Inspection Certification(s).
• Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

3rd Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 pm – 07:00 am

What You Will Learn

• Precision surface grinding and other CNC equipment operation as required.
• Cross‑functional collaboration through various types of manufacturing and processes.
• Experience with inspection equipment.

• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and grinders.
• Experience maintaining tight tolerances (< 0.0005").
