Job summary

JBG SMITH in Arlington, VA seeks a skilled Facilities Technician to independently troubleshoot, operate, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems across multiple properties.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a CFC Universal Technician certification, and strong problem-solving with good communication. Shift is 10pm–6am, Tuesday–Saturday, with overtime and background checks possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CFC Universal Technician certification is required.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily mechanical tours to ensure safe operation of equipment and building systems.
• Adjust HVAC controls to meet tenant comfort and lease requirements.
• Operate and monitor automation systems and reports faults and anomalies.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance per standards and document actions.
• Respond to service requests and document actions in the system.
• Perform general building maintenance including re-lamping, plumbing, locksmithing, and painting.
• Respond to alarms and incidents and identify recurring issues for follow-up.
• Attend toolbox meetings and mentor colleagues and new employees.
• Comply with company policies and safety guidelines.
• Complete assigned tasks and special projects efficiently.
• Work a regular shift as scheduled and carry company devices.
• Tenant background screening may be required.
