Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a skilled engineer to supervise and perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems across several properties near Washington, DC. The role emphasizes safe operation, daily tours, and quick response to incidents.

You will work 10pm–6am, Sunday through Thursday, with strong focus on documenting actions, following safety guidelines, and coordinating with management for efficient building performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years in stationary engineering or related maintenance.
  • Current boiler license from DC or equivalent acceptable to the company.
  • EPA CFC Universal Technician certification required.
  • Proficient troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety systems and equipment.
  • Conduct daily tours to ensure safe, efficient operation and building performance.
  • Adjust HVAC controls to meet tenant comfort and lease requirements.
  • Monitor automation systems, logs, alarms, and report faults.
  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance per standards and document actions.
  • Respond to tenant and management service requests and update systems.
  • Maintain documentation in logs and electronic filing systems.
