Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Walker, MI is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair powered industrial equipment on the 3rd shift (10 PM–6 AM). The role includes preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and training Material Handlers, with a focus on safety and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience, a mechanical certification for powered industrial equipment, and forklift/industrial truck licenses.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret and troubleshoot using mechanical and electrical prints.
• Ability to use hand tools properly.
• Operate tool room equipment (lathe, Bridgeport, drill press).
• Follow Challenge’s safety policies and procedures.
• Identify root causes of issues quickly and accurately.
• Strong mechanical process understanding.
• Lift/move material up to 60 pounds.
• Work well in a team and train others.
• Demonstrate responsibility, honesty, and integrity.
• Adapt to changes and see them as learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair powered industrial equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on powered industrial equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on Hilo batteries.
• Monthly preventative maintenance on all powered equipment.
• Address safety inspection failures daily; hydraulic hose replacement.
• Respond to emergency repairs of powered equipment.
• Use Total Trax reports for operations.
• Conduct training and certification of Material Handlers.
