Job summary

Kennametal Inc. is seeking a CNC Operator II in New Albany, IN to set up and operate Mazak mills, Mikino sinkers, wire and lathe equipment. You will read blueprints, adjust speeds/feeds, and ensure parts meet specifications with high quality and safety standards.

The role requires 5+ years of CNC experience, the ability to edit G-code, and collaboration with engineering to optimize processes, while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment during the 3rd shift (Sun-Thu, 11pm–7:30am).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AS in machining/CNC preferred.
• 5+ years experience operating CNC machines (metal machining preferred).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines such as Mazak mills, Mikino sinkers, wire and/or Okuma/Hwacheon to perform drilling, grinding, milling.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining operations.
• Program and adjust machine settings (speed, feed, tool changes) to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition.
• Read and write G-code for editing, debugging machine issues, and setting up tooling.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality of finished parts.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve machining issues and optimize processes.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
