Job summary

Rescue Mission Alliance in Syracuse is seeking a 3rd Shift Part Time Client Care Specialist to maintain a safe, supportive shelter environment from 11:30pm to 7:30am on Thursdays to Saturdays. The role includes building rapport with clients, providing motivation toward independence, and coordinating internal services while upholding dignity and confidentiality.

The position offers a $18.50 per hour base rate with a 3rd Shift differential of $2.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree in human services or related field preferred.
• Experience working with homeless, addicted or mentally ill clients desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop rapport with clients and provide support, encouragement and motivation.
• Participate as a team player to provide the best possible care for every client.
• Complete rounds, monitor facilities, refer clients to internal services.
• Facilitate drug and breathalyzer tests, enforce guidelines as appropriate, maintain confidentiality.
• Document pertinent client information and complete trainings within 30 days.

Client Care Specialist – Emergency Shelter- Part Time

Shift: Thursdays- Saturdays: 11:30pm-7:30am | Rate of Pay: $18.50 per hour

The Rescue Mission is seeking a 3rd Shift Part Time Client Care Specialist to work from 11:30pm-7:30am in our Syracuse Emergency Shelter. The Client Care Specialist maintains a safe and supportive environment for clients, utilizing the resources of the Rescue Mission to ensure a healthy and pleasant stay and provide an environment of positive change.

Additional Duties

This position develops rapport with clients and provides support, encouragement, and motivation towards building and/or maintaining independence while maintaining appropriate professional employee-client boundaries at all times. Participates as a team player to provide the best possible care for every client who enters Rescue Mission facilities by completing rounds, monitoring facilities, facilitating drug and breathalyzer tests, giving out personal care items and bedding, enforcing guidelines as appropriate and referring clients to appropriate internal services; does so while treating clients with respect and dignity. Shares pertinent client information via documentation, participation in meetings, and on an individual basis as needed, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate, and completes trainings within 30 days of assignment.

Requirements & Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required


• Associates degree in human services or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.


• Experience working with homeless, addicted and/or mentally ill clients desired.


• Must follow CDC guidance including wearing a mask when working.


• Full vaccination and boosted (when eligible) against Covid-19 is strongly encouraged.

Rate of Pay

Starting Pay rate - $18.50 per hour.

3rdShift Differential (9:00pm-7:30am) – Additional $2.00 per hour.

Available Work Schedule

Thursdays through Saturdays.
