Job summary

Pridgeon and Clay in Michigan seeks an Automatic Press Operator for the third shift (four 10-hour shifts). The role includes setting up and operating automatic presses, performing 5S duties, and contributing to lean initiatives while maintaining safety and quality documentation.

The candidate will train on site, handle die changes, calibrations with calipers and micrometers, and lift up to 50 pounds. A $2,500 sign-on bonus and a $1.00/hr shift differential for third shift are offered as part of

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of nine months of experience setting up and operating automatic presses and troubleshooting dies.
• Ability to prove mechanical inclination, computer literacy and general math knowledge through aptitude testing.
• Willingness to attend off-site, job-related training classes.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent work record (e.g. limited employee warnings), including attendance.
• Willingness to train on and work on any shift.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Operators are responsible for owning a set of approved calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Complete and proficient in all requirements for the Automatic Press Operator Trainee position and independently run presses.
• Prepare presses and work sites for set up and follow setup instructions for presses; set up across press categories.
• Operate the automatic presses following instructions and complete production paperwork and tags.
• Monitor and maintain press fluids; dispose of waste oil.
• Load and unload coils; verify raw material stock against router and check sheets.
• Use systems to obtain information and order materials as necessary.
• Safely operate hi-los, cranes, and carts to load/unload materials and transport finished product.
• Troubleshoot presses to ensure quality and production, including safety interlocks and sensors.
• Perform all tasks of a changeover and coil changes; operate a torch/plasma cutter as needed.
