Job summary

Saab is expanding its West Lafayette, IN facility and seeks 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk fuselage. Training through Saab Aerospace structures academy is paid and on-site; anticipated start is early December 2026.

Responsibilities include assembling fuselage structures, training new team members, and contributing to a state-of-the-art production system with a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft structure and install systems and final assembly on the fuselage.
• Follow quality requirements and work instructions in a team environment.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete per specifications.
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
