Job summary

Saab is hiring 3rd shift Structural Assemblers in West Lafayette, IN to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk. You will assemble aircraft structures, train new team members, and help define our advanced production system.

Entry includes paid on-site training at Saab’s aerospace academy and a December 2026 start. Responsibilities include following standardized procedures, ensuring quality, and supporting continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery while

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft structures according to procedures to achieve 100% quality.
• Follow quality requirements and work instructions in a team-based environment.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle surface work including touch-up painting where required.
• Sign off on completed work per specifications.
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive environment aligned with company values.
