The Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is committed to developing skilled, ethical, and professional law enforcement personnel who are dedicated to serving and protecting the people of Idaho. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Curriculum Coordinator/Training Specialistto join our team and contribute to the development and continual improvement of high-quality law enforcement training programs across the state.

The Curriculum Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the education and training provided to Idaho’s peace officers. This position is responsible for designing, evaluating, and maintaining POST curriculum standards using evidence‑based instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles. The coordinator ensures all training aligns with state requirements, current best practices, and the evolving needs of law enforcement agencies.

Working closely with Law Enforcement Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), the Curriculum Coordinator translates operational expertise into effective, well‑structured instructional materials. This includes collaborating with SMEs to organize content, align materials with instructional best practices, and ensure that learning objectives, assessments, and training activities clearly support the intended learning outcomes.

• Identify education standards, learning objectives, and competency‑based outcomes using Bloom’s Taxonomy and other learning frameworks.
• Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design) to create effective, engaging, and measurable learning experiences.
• Collaborate with instructors, subject matter experts, and law enforcement partners to design, revise, and enhance curriculum, assessments, and training materials.
• Edit and proof curriculum documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with learning outcomes.
• Evaluate and update training curricula to reflect changes in law enforcement practices, IDAPA standards, Job Task Analysis (JTA) findings, and current adult learning research.
• Maintain, organize, and distribute current POST curriculum standards, lesson plans, instructor guides, and multi‑modal instructional materials.
• Create and review assessments (knowledge, skills, performance‑based) to ensure validity, reliability, and alignment to objectives.
• Conduct surveys, analyze feedback, and use data to drive continuous improvement following models such as the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Framework.
• Research national training standards and instructional trends to identify innovative approaches for law enforcement education.
• Facilitate curriculum reviews, ensuring alignment of lesson plans, presentations, and assessments with intended learning outcomes.
• Coordinate curriculum development workflows, timelines, and project management tasks across multiple stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with diverse internal and external partners, demonstrating strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Assist with identifying training needs, facilitating needs assessments, and supporting statewide law enforcement training initiatives.
• Assist with public records requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good knowledge of training theory;
• Experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework and evaluating training;
• Experience presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations;
• Experience using a variety of training methods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or learning and development roles.
• Familiarity with instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), Bloom’s Taxonomy, assessment design, and evaluation methodology.
• Experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing work in a dynamic environment.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Experience working with SMEs and cross‑functional teams.
