Job summary

Ada County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Training Coordinator to plan and coordinate specialized training across the Court Services Bureau. This role involves scheduling courses, managing training aids, and coordinating with vendors and instructors to ensure high-quality programs.

The position requires knowledge of training principles, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain thorough training records, including POST certification activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate training courses, audiovisual setup, room scheduling, and training aids.
  • Coordinate trainings with vendors, hosts, course promotion, documentation, and AV support.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and maintain training records; support POST certification efforts.
  • Maintain LMS records and ensure accurate documentation for audits.
  • Interact with agency contacts across administration, supervision, and operations to fulfill training needs.
  • Assist with PREA, CPR, Healthy Pursuits, and other program requirements; support retirees and coordination with POST.

Job description

Plans and coordinates specialized training throughout the Sheriff’s Office. Performs related work and other duties as assigned. The position is located in the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Court Services Bureau.

SHIFT INFORMATION

Generally Monday - Friday, day shift hours, with some flexibility required.

  • Assesses training needs through surveys, interviews, and research;
  • Coordinates scheduling of training courses, audiovisual equipment, room scheduling and other training aids;
  • Coordinates trainings with requested vendors from hosting request, course promotion, documentation, AV and other training aids;
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training presented;
  • Maintains training records for archival purposes;
  • Processes all agency training documentation into multiple databases for accurate record keeping including processes for POST audits;
  • Assists departmental instructors and employees in applying for Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification and attendance in training courses and academies;
  • Maintains liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training;
  • Assists commissioned coordinators with academy requirements and documentation;
  • Maintains Learning Management System (LMS) which includes installing, distributing, and monitoring online trainings received from subject matter experts;
  • Monitors the Training Request system and reacts to the requests as they are received for approval;
  • Forms relationships with agency contacts (administration, supervisors, operations, etc.);
  • Maintains and coordinates the following programs/requirements: the PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) training records for staff, interns and contractors; the CPR program; the Healthy Pursuits program;
  • Assists with the retired law enforcement office (RLEO) qualification system; and
  • Participates on an interagency training committee to exchange ideas on training needs and resources.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain supplies for external vendor courses;
  • Ordering supplies as needed;
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Employee Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred;

  • May require flexibility in weekly schedule.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph, credit check, and background investigation;
  • This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.;
  • Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
