Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard, located in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a 2nd Class Shipfitter for the 2nd shift. You will assist in fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components aboard ships, reading blueprints, and welding under supervision.

The role requires at least 3 years of shipfitting experience in marine environments, the ability to lift heavy loads, and the capability to pass a tack weld test with FCAW. This onsite role may require extended hours and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of shipfitting experience in a marine or shipyard.
• Strong blueprint interpretation and understanding of ship construction.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
• Knowledge of FCAW welding and tack welding tested.

Responsibilities

• Cut, fabricate, and fit metal components per blueprints.
• Assemble bulkheads, frames, decks with proper alignment.
• Read drawings, templates, and schematics for requirements.
• Perform tack welding and prepare parts for final weld.
• Work as part of a team with other trades to meet schedules.
