Job summary

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, OH seeks a Security Officer to provide a secure environment for guests, staff and stakeholders. Perform immediate responses to safety and security emergencies and conduct ongoing inspections to ensure safety and security of the facility.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for benefits including medical, dental and vision insurance, Life/AD&D, Short- and Long-Term Disability, OPERS, 457(b) plan, PTO and complimentary

Qualifications

• High school degree, GED, or equivalent.
• Must have a driver's license and meet insurance guidelines for driving vehicles.
• Two or fewer points on the BMV record.
• Must obtain Ohio driver's license within 1–3 years of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Provide necessary communications, response and assistance for immediate response and assistance for guests and staff during normal facility operations and/or emergencies.
• Continuous surveillance of the facility and grounds through a combination of automated systems, patrols, and inspections to ensure safety and security.
• Coordinate with contractors and outside partners to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Maintain required certifications for emergency response teams: First Aid, CPR, AED, De-escalation.
• Answer emergency and safety service calls promptly and courteously.
• Operate security vehicles as needed and manage traffic direction and access control.
• Monitor visitor entrances, greet visitors, provide directions, and ensure proper registration before entering secure areas.
• Demonstrate and promote the Conservatory's mission to engage diverse audiences.
