Job summary

Niterra North America, Inc. in West Virginia is seeking a Safety Specialist for a second-shift, onsite role to develop and maintain safety and environmental programs at our manufacturing facility.

You will lead incident investigations, interpret OSHA regulations, perform safety inspections, and train staff while ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of experience working with OSHA regulations.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficient with MS Office applications and reporting tools.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with management to develop, administer, and maintain safety programs and related training.
• Maintain and implement safety-related manuals and procedures (e.g., WVSM).
• Coordinate incident investigations.
• Interpret OSHA regulations and serve as an employee resource.
• Track OSHA and DOT-related certifications to ensure compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Perform routine process safety inspections campus-wide.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses for all areas.
• Lead new hire training on safety awareness and policies.
• Complete industrial hygiene studies and recommend improvements to management.
• Run emergency drills and related training.
• Approve and maintain Safety Data Sheets compliance with GHS and WVEMS.
• Establish, document, and maintain EMS policies and procedures.
• Back up the CAR/PAR systems related to OHS and EMS.
• Assist emergency responders and communicate with departments and external parties.
• Serve as a member of the Safety and Environmental Committee.
• Manage inventory of PPE-related supplies.
• Travel and overtime as required.
