Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure all employees understand and follow all safety rules, regulations, and policies. Maintain safe and sanitary working conditions in accordance with company, state, and federal standards. Conduct safety training and ensure attendance at safety meetings and training sessions. Investigate accidents and near misses, complete reports, and eliminate root causes.
- Manage all operational aspects of the assigned shift, supervising hourly personnel and ensuring accountability for area results.
- Ensure smooth shift-to-shift continuity, setting practices and goals for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate resources to address problems or weaknesses, maximizing efficiency.
- Lead improvement projects and oversee process and methods control.
- Coordinate training for both hourly and salaried staff.
- Approve staffing schedules, vacations, PTO, and shift changes for hourly employees.
- Ensure the area is clean and maintained, with 5-S paperwork completed and posted.
- Manage equipment and personnel to produce quality products in a safe, clean environment.
- Assign tasks and instruct employees to maintain quality and follow process procedures.
- Enforce priorities and procedures as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Monitor operations to ensure equipment functionality, procedural compliance, and safety.
- Ensure all safety regulations are understood and followed, including accident investigations and reporting.
- Complete daily production, downtime, attendance, and absentee reports.
- Distribute overtime fairly within departments.
- Address processes that go out of control and communicate effectively with staff and other departments.
- Document and communicate problems to relevant service departments.
- Participate in quality improvement and product delivery processes through scheduled meetings and training.
Qualifications (education, experience, skills, attributes):
- High School diploma required; College degree preferred.
- Minimum five years of manufacturing operations experience.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or other shifts as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and good performance and attendance records.
- Physically and mentally capable of handling exertion and stress.
- Ability to conduct and participate in meetings effectively.
