Job summary

Newell Brands is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Production Supervisor in Wichita, KS to lead shift operations, drive Lean initiatives, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity. You will allocate manpower, manage material flow, and mentor a team through continuous improvement programs like SEAL and PEAK.

The role requires leadership experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach employees while coordinating with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
• Five or more years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Continuous Improvement, and waste elimination principles.
• Working knowledge of SEAL safety program and PEAK continuous improvement methodology preferred.
• Experience managing labor efficiency, production scheduling, material management, scrap reduction, quality improvement, and production performance metrics.
• Experience leading training and cross-training initiatives to improve workforce flexibility and employee development.
• Strong problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively cascade information.

Responsibilities

• Observe and enforce safety policies and procedures.
• Drive operational excellence through PEAK continuous improvement program.
• Uphold Newell Brands Values and Code of Conduct.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment per 6S standards.
• Lead shift operations focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.
• Plan, schedule, and allocate manpower to meet production requirements while maximizing efficiency.
• Monitor labor performance and staffing to meet productivity goals.
• Manage material availability to minimize shortages, excess inventory, and waste.
• Monitor and reduce scrap through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate color changes, changeovers, startup activities to minimize downtime.
• Promote Lean, 6S, Kaizen, and coordinate with other departments on new processes.
• Collect and communicate daily production metrics.
• Lead daily shift meetings and cascade company objectives and priorities.
• Maintain accountability for production schedules and quality targets.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are safe and efficient and coordinate with Maintenance/Engineering.
• Develop employees through coaching, training, and cross-training.
• Maintain skills matrices and ensure required training.
• Foster a positive environment with employee engagement and adherence to policies.
• Recommend hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
