Job summary

Mercersburg Academy is seeking a skilled Second Shift Maintenance Technician (3:00pm - 11:30pm) to join our facilities team. The role focuses on plumbing maintenance across residential, commercial, and industrial settings, including responding to off-peak emergencies and performing PM tasks to keep critical systems running.

Qualifications

• Two plus years hands-on experience in commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential plumbing maintenance or installation.
• Journeyman Plumber license or equal, Backflow Prevention certification or relevant vocational credentials preferred.
• Proficiency with various piping materials (PVC, CPVC, Copper, Cast Iron, PEX, Black Iron); ability to read blueprints and P&ID diagrams.
• Shift readiness to work 2nd shift hours, overtime, and occasional weekend shifts if needed.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and inspect MEP systems across campus during 2nd shift; document abnormalities.
• Troubleshoot piping networks and water temperature issues; address leaks, clogs, pressure drops.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, boilers, backflow assemblies, drains, and fluid lines.
• Assist with general 2nd shift maintenance including basic electrical work and HVAC tasks.
• Respond to emergencies (leaks, outages, pressure failures) during second shift, on campus and community homes.
• Ensure plumbing work complies with local codes, OSHA, LOTO, and internal safety policies.
• Log work orders, parts usage, and maintenance activities in FMX.
