Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. Shift: 5 PM - 4 AM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of new equipment.
• Assist in plant operation of the PLC when needed.
• Support personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Follow the preventative maintenance schedule.
• Perform machine repairs and installations, including replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, threading and welding piping, overhauling pumps, and replacing packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps. Use welding and cutting torches as needed.
• Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment.
• Diagnose and replace equipment parts with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area at all times.
• Use assigned personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
• Attend safety meetings and participate in the Safety Committee if asked.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with rendering or similar industrial equipment.
• At least 5 years of experience in welding and piping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operation.
• Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding, including vertical and overhead positions.
• Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair motors and other equipment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently push, pull, move, or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Reach with hands and arms as needed.
• Travel to other plants for projects may be required.
• Work nights and weekends; be available "on call" as needed.

Work Environment

Work takes place in a rendering facility with conditions that may include wet or slippery floors and extreme temperatures.
