POSITION OVERVIEW: The Welder Assembly Operator is responsible for welding production orders or components using MIG and TIG processes, ensuring they meet customer and quality standards. This involves applying welding techniques, setup knowledge, and meeting production requirements consistently.

Primary Accountabilities:

  1. Assemble parts to complete units and components in a specialized area, performing processes such as fixture welding, insulation wrapping, auto-welder operations, and air testing.
  2. Use inspection tools to measure welded components, checking for issues like burn through, cold starts, penetration, bead size, and other weld quality indicators.
  3. Set up and operate machines to produce finished products.
  4. Perform specialized assembly operations including jigging, air testing, and component assembly.
  5. Follow ITAR procedures when applicable.
  6. Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely and effectively.
  7. Clean and inspect parts, complete paperwork, and participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions.
  8. Adhere to safety and OSHA standards, maintain a safe workspace, and use PPE as required.
  9. Ensure quality workmanship to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements:

  1. Stay current with all welding methods required by NGP or customers.
  2. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, proficiency in shop math, blueprint reading, and measurement tools.
  3. Pass the NGP Weld Test.
  4. Handle production demands and solve problems effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Stand for a 10-hour shift.
  2. Bend, twist, stoop, lift, and handle parts safely.
  3. Lift over 25 lbs and have good hand-eye coordination.
