Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. Working hours are from 5 PM to 4 AM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of new equipment.
• Assist in plant operation of the PLC when needed.
• Support personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule.
• Perform machine repairs and installations, such as replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, threading and welding piping, overhauling pumps, replacing packing shaft seals on cookers and pumps, welding, and using cutting torches.
• Conduct daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnose and replace equipment parts with minimal guidance.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Use assigned personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
• Attend safety meetings regularly and participate in the Safety Committee if asked.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience with rendering or similar industrial equipment.
• At least 5 years of experience in welding and piping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
• Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding, including vertical and overhead positions.
• General mechanical aptitude; ability to diagnose and repair issues with motors and other equipment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently push, pull, move, or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Reach with hands and arms as needed.
• May need to travel to other plants for construction projects.
• Work nights and weekends as required; be available "on call" as needed.

Work Environment

The work is performed in a rendering facility with exposure to wet, slippery floors, and high or cold temperatures.
