Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Maintenance Technician I–IV to ensure maximum operating efficiency by repairing machines and equipment across production and facilities. The level will reflect experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include responding to production requests, maintaining equipment, documenting preventative maintenance, and ordering parts. Candidates should have an associate degree or equivalent, 3+ years in maintenance, and strong electrical, mechanical, and PLC knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 3 years of maintenance experience and/or training or more.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
  • Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Advanced electrical knowledge/training.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to weld. (TIG, MIG and Stick).
  • Advanced knowledge of PLCs and ability to troubleshoot these systems.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic drawings.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
  • Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
  • Product weight: up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
