Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Maintenance Technician I–IV in Wisconsin to ensure maximum operating efficiency by repairing machines and equipment in production and facility. The level depends on experience and qualifications.

You will respond to production requests, maintain equipment, keep preventive maintenance records, and create requisitions for parts and supplies. Adhere to safety policies and the GMP/SQF program, with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of maintenance experience and/or training.
  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
  • Entry level experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to production requests for immediate attention to production line issues and problems.

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician I, II, III, or IV will ensure maximum operating efficiency through the repair of machines and equipment in production and facility. The assigned level will depend on experience, qualifications, and work history.

Preferred Education And Experience


  • 5 years of maintenance experience and/or training or more.

  • Extensive understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.

  • Extensive electrical knowledge/training.

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability to weld. (TIG, MIG and Stick)


Working Conditions


  • Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.

  • Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.

  • Product weight: up to 50 lbs.

  • Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
