Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese, Inc. is seeking a 1st Shift 12-hour Maintenance Technician to service and repair production equipment in our facility. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and attendance on a rotating 12-hour schedule from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

The technician will handle preventative maintenance, part requisitions, and improvements to reduce downtime. Candidates should have at least 1 year of maintenance experience or training, plus basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic,

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year maintenance experience and/or training.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to production requests for immediate attention to production line issues.
  • Maintain production equipment.
  • Maintain records of preventative maintenance.
  • Create requisitions of parts and supplies to maintain equipment.
  • Identify problem areas and address with permanent solutions.
  • Adhere to safety policies & procedures.
  • Produce quality products in line with GMP and SQF standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

1st Shift 12-Hour Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician I, II, III, or IV will ensure maximum operating efficiency through the repair of machines and equipment in production and facility. The assigned level will depend on experience, qualifications, and work history. This is a rotating 12-hour schedule position with hours from 6:00am-6:00pm.

Job Responsibilities
  • Respond to production requests for immediate attention to production line issues and problems.
  • Maintain production equipment.
  • Maintain records of preventative maintenance.
  • Create requisitions of parts and supplies to maintain equipment.
  • Identify problem areas and address with permanent solutions.
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies & procedures.
  • All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of maintenance experience and /or training or more.
  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
  • Entry level experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5 years of maintenance experience and/or training or more.
  • Extensive understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Extensive electrical knowledge/training.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to weld. (TIG, MIG and Stick)
Working Conditions
  • Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
  • Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
  • Product weight: up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
