Job summary

Atkore is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic based in New Bedford, MA. You will perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, and production equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and keep accurate maintenance records. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Maintenance Mechanic experience with heavy machinery and equipment.
• Experience with maintenance/repair of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
• Must have basic mechanic tools on site.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Good understanding of basic math required for counting and calculations.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organization.
• Must be adaptable to changes and able to work overtime when needed.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance on motors, tools, conveyors, and machines; follows manuals and specs; Troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Locates problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for issues, and using precision instruments.
• Removes defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools; inspects parts for wear.
• Adjusts parts and controls to maintain proper function.
• Controls downtime by informing production of maintenance schedules and compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
• Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies; places orders as needed.
• Provides maintenance information by answering questions and documenting issues.
• Keeps knowledge current by attending workshops and reviewing technical publications.
• Maintains documentation of actions and irregularities to ensure continuity across teams.
