Job summary

Atkore International in New Bedford, MA is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy machinery, conveyors, and production equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and keep accurate maintenance records while collaborating with a team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance mechanic experience with heavy machinery.
• Experience with maintenance and repair of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
• Must have basic mechanic tools on site.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
• Must be able to lift, pull, or push at least 50 lbs. and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices and testing with precision instruments.
• Remove defective parts and inspect using measuring tools.
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies and place orders as needed.
• Document maintenance actions and communicate irregularities to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment and comply with regulations.
• Collaborate with coworkers and managers to achieve productivity and site goals.
• Overtime availability as required.
