Job summary

Atkore is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic based in New Bedford, MA. You will perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, and production equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and keep accurate maintenance records. Qualifications

• 3+ years of Maintenance Mechanic experience with heavy machinery and equipment.
• Experience with maintenance/repair of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
• Must have basic mechanic tools on site.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Good understanding of basic math required for counting and calculations.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organization.
• Must be adaptable to changes and able to work overtime when needed.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Controls downtime by informing production of maintenance schedules and compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
• Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies; places orders as needed.
• Provides maintenance information by answering questions and documenting issues.
• Keeps knowledge current by attending workshops and reviewing technical publications.
• Maintains documentation of actions and irregularities to ensure continuity across teams.

What you’ll do:

• Ensures the safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Must be available to work overtime on short notice.

What you’ll bring:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $31.71. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
