Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing, a leading tier 1 supplier of complex metal assemblies for the automotive industry, is hiring for a 2nd shift forklift operator at our Walker, MI plant. The role focuses on safe operation of HiLo forklifts, material handling, and inventory support to ensure on-time deliveries.

Responsibilities include moving loads, stacking, weighing, and assisting with continuous improvement while complying with all safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience with material handling and forklift driving preferred.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Able to stand 8-10 hours and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operates liquefied gas or electric powered industrial truck with lifting devices safely.
• Move forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under or around loads.
• Transport loads to designated areas and unload/stack as required.
• Inventory materials on the work floor and supply to workers.
• Weighs materials and records weights on tags or schedules.
• Recharge batteries or replace gas tanks as needed.
• Follow safety, environmental, regulatory, and company procedures.
• Adapt to extended hours and potential weekend shifts as needed.
