Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons in Kent, WA seeks a skilled Bindery Operator to operate folder gluer and associated binding systems, coordinating the setup and run of multi-function finishing units. The role requires ensuring quality, safety, and timely production while directing a crew on the 2PM–10PM shift.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret work orders or job specs for bindery requirements and sequence of machine operations.
• Calculate distances, clearances, and fits when combining machines.
• Use standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
• Knowledge of complex bindery machines to perform folds, collating, and cutting.
• Understand paper stock quality and machining requirements to produce finished products.
• Set up and adjust machines for finishing operations and control quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of Folder Gluer machines.
• Set up and operate auxiliary binding machines with multiple heads and attachments.
• Set up automatic bindery machines to produce complete finishing units.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and ensure proper operation.
• Direct crew through all production stages and monitor output and quality.
• Maintain productivity and ensure final books/catalogs meet specifications.
