Job summary

Albanyschools is seeking a Custodial Worker for the 2nd shift (Monday - Friday) under APSUE Employment Opportunity. You will perform routine cleaning, floor care, snow removal and groundskeeping across school facilities.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning rooms, windows and restrooms, unloading deliveries, stocking supplies and setting up for events. Heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and outdoor maintenance may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment efficiently and economically.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to perform heavy manual cleaning, lifting and minor grounds maintenance.
• Willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks.
• Ability to get along with others; capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors, stairs and halls.
• Mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves and perform grounds keeping tasks.
• Strip and wax floors and halls using heavy machinery.
• Clean rooms: dusting, walls, work benches, windows, restrooms and lockers.
• Empty wastepaper baskets and dispose of rubbish.
• Operate heavy rug shampoo equipment.
• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and entrances.
• Maintain grounds by picking up trash and debris.
• Arrange furniture for events.
• Light maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs; assist as watchman when needed.
