Job summary

Albanyschools is seeking a Custodial Worker for the 2nd shift at Harriet Gibbons. You will perform cleaning, grounds keeping, and snow removal duties in our facilities.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning rooms, waste disposal, and assisting with event setup. Heavy lifting and outdoor maintenance are part of the job; physical stamina is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment efficiently.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Physical condition suitable for demanding cleaning tasks.
• Ability to work with others.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors, stairs and halls.
• Mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves and perform groundskeeping.
• Strip and wax floors and halls using heavy machinery.
• Clean rooms: dusting furniture, walls, benches, desks, windows, sinks and bathrooms.
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose rubbish from large barrels.
• Operate heavy rug shampoo equipment.
• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, doors, entryways and parking lots.
• Maintain grounds by picking up trash and debris; arrange chairs and tables for events.
• May unload deliveries, stock shelves and perform heavy lifting.
• May perform minor maintenance like replacing light bulbs.
