Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair a fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and safe operation.

Qualifications include 1+ year in vehicle maintenance or relevant certification, ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred, and possession of necessary tools. Companion responsibilities involve documenting work and collaborating with teammates.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One year experience performing vehicle maintenance or completion of a vehicle maintenance certificate or Apprentice Program.
  • One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
  • Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools associated with vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices.
  • Ability to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Works with other technicians in preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Documents maintenance performed in reports, both written and electronic.
  • Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
  • Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
  • Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
