Job summary

Washington Mills in North Grafton, MA is seeking a Bagging Machine Operator to monitor and operate the auto bagger system on the production line. This 2nd shift role runs Monday–Thursday 3 pm–1 am with occasional Fridays; overtime on Fridays.

You will work in a team environment, ensure proper bag weights, labeling, and pallet configuration, and maintain safety practices. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, basic math and computer skills, and willingness to learn forklift operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; higher education a plus
• Basic computer skills and math calculations
• Mechanical aptitude
• Valid driver’s license
• English speaking/writing; Spanish a plus
• Team environment adaptability to production demands
• Able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk up to 10 hours
• Forklift operation experience or willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and support automated bagging equipment on a production line
• Feed bags into the machine and ensure proper bag alignment and flow
• Label bags accurately per customer and production specifications
• Adjust machine settings to maintain product weights within specification and ensure consistent output
• Verify bag seal integrity, labeling accuracy, and pallet configuration
• Fill, transport, palletize, stack, wrap, and move finished product to warehouse locations
• Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and operator-level preventive maintenance
• Identify, troubleshoot, and correct minor mechanical or operational issues; escalate complex issues as needed
• Maintain accurate production records, including weights, counts, downtime, and quality checks
• Follow safety procedures and PPE use and lockout/tagout awareness
• Work cohesively with supervisors, maintenance, and team members to meet production goals
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
• Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks or forklifts) if certified
